Vodou in Benin

In my research of Haiti for the prequel to God’s Blood, which I am writing now, I happened upon this impressive documentary on the roots of vodou, which trace back to Benin, West Africa. It is directed by Swiss photographer Alberto Venzago who manages to hypnotize the viewer into a feature-length juju induced trance. The story telling in this surprising documentary about an old voudon priest who must choose a successor is absolutely magical as is the cinematography. I am reminded there are still some intact cultures that barely touch the hand of chaos that is the Western world. Enjoy.
